Termatalia participated actively in the 1st Symposium on Health Tourism that was held yesterday November 27 in Termas de Copahue, in the Argentine province of Neuquén, one of the most important thermal areas in the country and in Latin America. This technical conference that addressed the thermalism from a multidisciplinary perspective: tourism, medical, environmental, legal and economic. The organization of this event was the result of the collaboration agreement signed during the last edition of Termatalia between the president of the Provincial Entity of Termas del Neuquén (EPROTEN), Alberto Moreno, and the director of the International Health Tourism Fair, Alejandro Rubín.

This training day attended by a hundred professionals in the sector was attended as speakers by the director of Termatalia, who spoke on the "Health and Welfare Tourism Trends in America and Europe", and the Director of International Relations of the fair, Emma González, who gave a presentation on "Thermal Marketing". Also the president of the Spanish Society of Medical Hydrology, Dr. Francisco Maraver, who addressed the "Need to research in Thermal Medicine". The last of the speakers of this symposium was the provincial director in Termas de Copahue Thermal Medicine, Dr. Lorena Vela, who in a speech entitled "Termas del Neuquén. Copahue for the World ", spoke of the characteristics that make this thermal enclave unique.

This event was also attended by the governor of Neuquén province, Omar Gutiérrez, who told the speakers that "we have great potential, but we want them to help us; that is why we are happy to be visited. It is very important that they have been able to know the privacy of our thermal baths, what we have done and what we have not done". He added that "it is very good that those who love and work in the Neuquén thermal baths today can hear from you the planning and priorities that must be strengthened to achieve the competitive development of our thermal baths". The governor also explained that "we are putting a very important milestone with this activity. Think that tourism is the second most important activity in the province, that is why we are happy to share your experiences, "he concluded.

The celebration of this Symposium served as a framework for the presentation of the book "Copahue: science, the magic and the art of healing", a special documentation on Copahue and its hot springs, made by multiple authors.

For his part, the president of EPROTEN, Alberto Moreno, indicated that work is being done "on training and development. The work is broad and has to do with Neuquén has a really important feature to settle as a thermal province. We want our medical thermal center to be a beacon in all of Latin America. "

This activity was framed between the activities prior to the Ibero-American Congress of Peloides (medicinal mud) to be held in the province of Neuquén in March 2019, and will be the first time that it is developed outside the European continent. Neuquén will host in 2018 a meeting of researchers in thermal mud.

The Copahue hot springs are one of the most distinguished in the world, since they are developed at the foot of an active volcano, which makes the resources have the particularity of being totally natural and unique thanks to its volcanic origin. The thermal resources of Copahue are composed of fumaroles, hot springs that mineralize meltwater, mud and algae, giving rise to a diversity of colors, green, gray and transparent waters, sulphurous, ferruginous. The algae and mud, internationally recognized for their properties, have an unequaled texture.
